LAANC · Airspace authorized
Cleared to fly — even in controlled airspace.
We're authorized through the FAA's LAANC system, which gives us same-day clearance to fly in controlled airspace (the airspace around airports). No multi-week waivers, no last-minute "we can't fly there" calls.
What's LAANC?
LAANC — Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability — is the FAA program that lets certified drone operators get near-instant approval to fly in controlled airspace (airspace around airports). Without LAANC, you wait 90 days for a manual airspace waiver. With LAANC, approvals come back in minutes.
Why it matters for your project
A lot of NorCal commercial sites — San Jose, Bay Area suburbs, Stockton, Modesto — sit inside controlled airspace from one or another airport. Without LAANC, your drone vendor either can't fly, or has to wait months for a waiver, or (worse) flies illegally.
We submit LAANC requests as part of every scope-to-flight workflow. Approval is part of our 48-72 hour mobilization. You don't have to think about it.
What about uncontrolled airspace?
Most rural sites in the Central Valley — vineyards, orchards, farm fields — are in uncontrolled (Class G) airspace. No LAANC needed, we fly under standard Part 107 operating rules. Same fast turnaround.
Restricted airspace and TFRs
Some airspace requires more than LAANC — military operating areas, national parks, presidential TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions), wildfire airspace. We check every site against current restrictions before scope sign-off. If a waiver is needed, we'll tell you and handle it.
Coverage
We file LAANC requests for projects across North California, including the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Valley. Common airspace covered: SJC, SFO, OAK, Stockton, Modesto, Fresno, Merced, and dozens of smaller Class C/D fields.
